From the Hive to the Hand: Our Story
For years, my craft was defined by the patience of keeping bees and creating fermented beverages. As a mead maker, I learned to respect the complex alchemy of honey—transforming the nectar of the Canadian wild flowers into a beverage that celebrates tradition. But while I loved the history of mead, I found myself looking for a modern way to honor the hive. I wanted to create something that didn't require a special occasion or a wine glass so I started making ‘session meads’—sparkling, low ABV meads flavoured with fruits and hops.
Shortly after I started to find alcohol less and less appealing as a consumer and I became obsessed with the idea of creating a drink that used the same raw, pure honey to fuel our modern, active lives without the refined sugars or synthetic additives found in today’s "wellness" drinks.
Meliflora is the result of that transition from the cellar to the can. I’ve taken my deep knowledge of apiculture and combined it with the precision of functional nutrition to create the "Science of Soft Hydration." By pairing 10g of pure honey with 100mg of Vitamin C from acerola cherry, prebiotic inulin, and a light dose of turmeric, I’ve crafted a 40-calorie elixir that nourishes the body as deeply as it respects the land.
